Virginia State University and the Virginia Farmers Market Association are excited to partner to announce the 2024 Mid Atlantic Farmers Market Conference!
This 3-day event held in the Richmond, Virginia area will bring together farmers, market managers, agriculture policymakers, and community partners to share their passion for farms, food access, small business, healthy communities and farmers markets.
There will be targeted workshops and training opportunities, dynamic speakers, and fun-filled social networking events.
This year’s theme focuses on providing attendees with real tools they can walk away with and immediately implement in their markets or businesses.
The conference will have three tracks -- New Market Managers, Experienced Market Managers, and Vendors -- and will cover topics such as:
- Market manager compensation
- Vendor visits best practices
- Music rights for farmers markets
- New vendor first steps
- Planning holiday markets
- Creating attractive booths
- Small business accounting basics
- Food safety
- SNAP and SNAP incentives
- Excel basics
- Marketing
- Liability for farmers markets
- Recruitment and retention of vendors
Farmers market managers and vendors -- both new and experienced -- are invited to hone their skills, network, and walk away with usable tools and resources.
The conference also includes an optional pre-conference day (November 13th) where participants can choose to get certified in CPR and/or ServSafe.
This conference will be a dynamic, interactive event that will give attendees the passport they need to level up.
